Early-life exposure to phthalates is linked to lower IQ, ADHD, behavior issue and even autism and these harmful chemicals are in our food. Thers is good news! As reported in The New York Times, this comes after our national Toxic-Free Food Campaign initiated a study four years ago that revealed toxic chemicals in the powdered cheese of boxed macaroni and cheese–even in organic Annie’s, a General Mills brand.
This is big news, and it’s just the beginning of where we’re leading the campaign: to victories across the food industry, for safe food. We’re working for more action from General Mills, and pushing other major food producers like Kraft Heinz to take similar steps.
With sales of processed foods like boxed mac and cheese skyrocketing during the pandemic, it has never been more timely to stop toxic chemicals from getting into food through processing and packaging.
